The team behind Advocacy Answers

Pru Etcheverry and Georgie Hackett have spent decades inside New Zealand's for-purpose and corporate sectors. They started Advocacy Answers to give organisations the strategic support they'd wanted themselves — practical, grounded, and built for the realities of the work.

Pru is a leader in the for-purpose sector and has been honoured for her work as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM). She brings skills in strategy, governance, leadership, non-profit management, and advocacy. Pru's career is marked by a deep commitment to the health and wellbeing of communities. Pru uses her expertise with local and international clients to successfully develop and implement innovative strategic solutions that create measurable impact.

Known for her collaborative approach, Pru has worked extensively alongside stakeholders across healthcare, philanthropy, and community advocacy, shaping policies and programmes that drive meaningful change.

While CEO of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC), Pru grew it from a fledgling organisation to a high-profile NGO generating $70 million of sustainable revenue. Prior to working in the NGO sector Pru had a corporate career with multinational healthcare companies.

Pru has long-standing experience in a number of governance roles in both chair and trustee capacity. She has also had long-standing experience in international not for profit governance roles. She is currently a trustee of the SkyCity Auckland Community Trust.

Georgie is a community engagement expert. She has led on high-level stakeholder engagement and consultation programmes both in New Zealand and overseas including on some of Europe's largest urban and social regeneration schemes. She is skilled in bringing the community and wider stakeholders together to work through complex issues to achieve impact.

Georgie is a trained journalist. She believes in harnessing the power of storytelling to create social change. She was previously General Manager at Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand and has held a number of senior management roles in New Zealand and overseas across a range of sectors including media, health, at-risk youth, local government and property.

She is experienced in developing and implementing successful impact-focused fundraising, communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Our story

Advocacy Answers was founded in 2018 to fill a gap Pru and Georgie kept running into: organisations doing vital work with no room to think strategically, and no one to think alongside them. Eight years on, that's still needed — sitting alongside boards and leadership teams, asking the hard questions early, and turning good intentions into plans that hold.
